Julia Brown is a filmmaker from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Julia has been making films form a young age, working with others to explore and find their own voice. Julia is currently works aa a freelance director, videographer, editor, photographer, researcher, camera assistant and general all can do video person for hire.

They have worked a freelance editor for clients including the Roundhouse, London, Conde Nast and Secret cinema. They have also worked as a director of photography and camera operator for Boiler Room, Lush, Dazed Magazine, Mind UK and Awal records.

Julia started off their career shooting and collaborating on multiple documentaries for women, disability and immigration activist groups. They were first commissioned by Mind Uk ( the mental health charity) successfully creating internal films interviewing to ensure further funding of services. Following this they pursued training and assisted many talented filmmakers in order to be able to film and edit for multiple clients.

They have shot films commissioned by Chisenhale Gallery, CCA Glasgow, Whitechapel gallery and NI Screen and directed their own work commissioned by BBC NI and AWAL records.

In 2017 Julia was part of the London Film Festivals BFI Network Lab
